Get another inside look at the City of Philadelphia‘s open data processes with its new open data calendar. The site has a rough schedule of more than a dozen upcoming open data releases, as well as data sets that are being considered for release.
Particularly of note is that City Employee Salary data is scheduled to be released this summer, according to the site. Earlier this winter, City Controller candidate Brett Mandel published city employee salaries on his budget visualization tool but later took the data down, saying he wanted to err on the side of caution.
The dates posted on the open data calendar are not strict deadlines, Chief Data Officer Mark Headd wrote in a blog post explaining the site’s launch. The dates are more of a way to guide workflow, he said.
The city’s open data efforts continue to be a model of transparency, giving citizens a look into how Philly is working toward to fulfilling the call to action in the Mayor’s Open Data Executive Order. It’s published its internal Open Data Guidebook for city departments, the first draft of its open government plan and now this schedule of data releases.
