The ribbon-cutting event at the Chesapeake Innovation Center’s new Odenton headquarters will include a panel on innovation and America’s competitive edge.
The panel, held after the ribbon-cutting on Friday, Sept. 12, will include U.S. Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.); cwist founder and CEO Chris SleatJulie Lenzer Kirk, director of the office of innovation and entrepreneurship at the U.S. Department of Commerce (and a former Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship staffer); and former ARINC CEO John Belcher. The panel will be moderated by Baltimore Business Journal editor Joanna Sullivan.
The new CIC is located at 2288 Blue Water Blvd., Building 300, Suite 310 — adjacent to the Fort Meade Military Base. “Its proximity to the National Security Agency makes this building ideal for Government contractors and high-tech private sector tenants,” a real estate listing for the building boasted.
The innovation center is an incubator backed by the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation.
The ribbon-cutting, at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 12, will be followed by tours of the new facility.
The panel and ribbon-cutting are part of a slate of events celebrating the building’s opening. At 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, the CIC hosts Deal Flow Tuesday, a panel featuring former NASDAQ chair Al Berkeley and Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP partner Helen Quick. Registration for this session costs $25.
On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the CIC hosts CyberHub, a session focusing on diversity in the cyber field. Registration for this session is also $25.
