Local entrepreneurs and business leaders met with Rep. John Carney (D-Del.) last week to discuss federal tax code reform.
Carney met with a handful of local business and startup leaders at The Archer Group’s offices in Wilmington. Carney’s goal, he said, is to have a system that can better support startups and middle-class families.
“Tax reform is an area of bipartisan interest,” Carney said. “Businesses should be making decisions based on business factors and the market, not tax implications. Small businesses and entrepreneurs are a large and growing segment of the economy, so as we look at making changes to the tax code, we need to include their thoughts and concerns.”
Participants included:

  • Keith Elliott, iOS Mobile Development Lead at Barclaycard and cofounder of Gem House
  • Steve High, technical lead at The Archer Group
  • Rory Laitila, owner of itr8group and Start It Up Delaware mentor
  • Tim Mihok, CFO at The Archer Group
  • Katie O’Hara, owner of Katie O’Hara Design
  • Michael Smith, former marketing director at DuPont
  • Maisha Thoms, founder and managing director at CAM Consulting Group

Last August, Carney held a similar event at The Loft coworking space.
