City releases building collapse documents online

The Daily News called the move a "complete about-face" on the Nutter administration's part since it has repeatedly denied requests for these documents since the collapse.

In response to “numerous” requests for the data, the city released dozens of documents relevant to last month’s deadly building collapse online Friday, according to a press release. The documents include email exchanges between city officials, building violation notices and building permits.

See the documents here. You’ll notice the documents are being hosted on the city’s account on Github, the developer-friendly source code housing staple that Chief Data Officer Mark Headd  pushed City Hall to use for transparency efforts like this.

The Daily News called the move a “complete about-face” on the Nutter administration’s part since it has repeatedly denied requests for these documents since the collapse. In a statement on its website, the administration said that many of these documents would not need to be disclosed under the state’s Right to Know Law, but that the city was doing so regardless.
