Baltimore city to install ShotSpotter gunshot detection

Add Baltimore to the list. The city will soon install the ShotSpotter system in east and west Baltimore, according to the Baltimore Sun:

The new system will work with CitiWatch, [Mayor Stephanie] Rawlings-Blake said, allowing police cameras to immediately focus in on areas where gunshots are detected.

Gunshot detection tech had previously been given a look by city officials, but the cost was prohibitive. A $305,000 state grant will pay for Baltimore’s ShotSpotter system.
Currently in use in Washington, D.C., the gunshot detection system has logged more than 39,000 “shooting incidents” there since 2006.
