The residents of Spruce Hill, the neighborhood west of University City that runs along Baltimore Avenue, don’t have to dig through city records to get information about a nearby proposed apartment complex at 4224 Baltimore Ave.
It’s all online for them to see.
In what feels like a refreshing act of transparency and willingness to interact with the neighborhood, U3 Ventures, a Center City real estate development firm, built a website to keep residents posted on the project and to solicit feedback on it. The site details the zoning permits the developers acquired, upcoming community meetings and neighborhood demographics.
There’s no mystery about who’s behind the development, either. The partners behind the project are listed on the site.
The site is reminiscent of the city’s recent trend of using technology to solicit feedback and input from its citizens. It’s the community meeting gone mobile, as we’ve called it.
