It must be awards season.

The Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), in collaboration with Baltimore Development Corporation and the City of Baltimore’s Mayor’s Office, recently announced the winners of the 49th Annual Mayor’s Business Recognition Awards.

This year, 14 organizations are being honored for “significant leadership and commitment to improving the quality of life in Baltimore”, according to an email release.

The organizing partner entities will celebrate the winners with a special ticketed reception on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the M&T Bank Exchange at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center in Downtown Baltimore. The celebration takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“This year’s awardees represent a network of diverse business entities that are invested in the betterment of Baltimore City, and in catalyzing a brighter future for the region,” GBC President and CEO Mark Anthony Thomas said in the announcement. “The ceremony hosted at the M&T Bank Exchange on December 13th will celebrate their work at the leading edge of creating transformative change around our multi-year agenda.”

This year, GBC restructured its annual awards program and focused on recognizing companies and organizations that excel in five categories: Economic Opportunity, Ambassador for Baltimore Region, Local Investment, Supporting Safe and Vibrant Communities and Community Redevelopment

The revised program spotlights businesses that, according to Mayor Brandon Scott, may be addressing Baltimore’s “most pressing challenges.”

“This recognition has always sought to inspire leaders across the City of Baltimore to continue innovating ways to support their communities and help our city achieve its full potential,” said Scott in the announcement.

The 14 winners of this year’s award are:

The Mayor’s Office and GBC recently boasted another accomplishment: an agreement with BUILD to invest $300 million over 15 years to redevelop at least 37,500 vacant or abandoned properties.
