Ready for drone racing, Baltimore? This video offers a sneak peek

Gentlemen, start your propellers. The Baltimore Drone Prix is Saturday.

As we reported last month, a new drone racing league is set to kick off in Baltimore this weekend. It’s the first we’ve seen the sport taking off in the city.
The Baltimore Drone Prix is set to be held Saturday at Open Works in Station North. Starting at noon, there will be a vendor fair and multiple heats throughout the day. Beginners as well as experienced racers are invited to strap on goggles and fly UAVs on a course set up outside the makerspace (BYO drone with camera, safety lights and goggles). There’s still time to register, or it’s open to the public to show up and watch.
Drone outfit Global Air Media and staff at Open Works are copilots for the league. To show what it looks like to fly a drone in Baltimore and get you hyped for Saturday, GAM made a video:

Along with the league, GAM’s Eno Umoh said Saturday’s race is a precursor to a month of activities centered around building drones at the makerspace.
