Chesapeake Regional Tech Council names new executive director

The Chesapeake Regional Tech Council (CRTC) named a permanent leader to succeed former executive director Kris Shock.
Tami Howie assumed the helm of the Maryland organization, which looks to organize and connect the state’s tech sector, on Nov. 2.
John Elstner led the CRTC in an interim capacity after Shock ended her seven-year tenure to take a job as senior account director at Exit10.
Howie most recently served as president and general counsel of Tessada & Associates, a $75 million technology contractor based in Northern Virginia. Prior to joining Tessada, Howie served as a technology lawyer with DLA Piper and Cooley. She has served on the board of UMD’s Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship, and was counsel for the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association early in her career.
CRTC formed in the early ’90s as the Anne Arundel Tech Council, but later grew to span membership throughout Maryland. The organization recently announced a partnership with Launch Annapolis to provide resources for startups in the Maryland capital.
