This is the Startup Roundup. Every Wednesday morning, Technically Baltimore will put together the smaller pieces that make up our startup ecosystem.

Venture for America throws its launch party today at the Emerging Technology Center in Canton. Technically Baltimore reported in July that Baltimore will be one of five more cities joining VFA, a nonprofit that scours top universities for promising entrepreneurial talent, convinces them that careers in investment banking or graduate business courses might not be all that exciting and then sets new graduates loose in existing startup companies for two-year periods. The goal, according to VFA director of corporate development Mike Tarullo, is to give talented young people enough of a reason to hang around Baltimore after completing their two-year stints. This is a Baltimore Innovation Week event.

Head back to the ETC on Thursday evening for the beta launch of Easy WebContent Presenter, the new, software-free way of creating (purportedly) kick-ass presentations and infographics. This is a Baltimore Innovation Week event.

Elsewhere Thursday evening, NewsUp will raise a glass with the BeerGivr crew as it toasts the unveiling of its new trivia feature. NewsUp, an AccelerateBaltimore company that has developed a game for reading news (just think — you now get a prize for every Thomas Friedman column you slog through), will be holding court at the second-floor bar at Alonso’s. Come for the trivia, stay for the Ravens game. This (NewsUp, not the Ravens game) is a Baltimore Innovation Week event.

Baltimore-area startups are now able to be listed in Cdling‘s directory of startups, investors and mentors, alongside people from Boston, New York City and Silicon Valley. Startups, incubators and accelerators in the city should e-mail Tom Kuegler, general partner with Wasabi Ventures, to be included in Cdling’s database. His e-mail: tk@wasabiventures.com.

The second annual Maryland Entrepreneur Expo is roughly a month and a half away, and TEDCO executive director Rob Rosenbaum expects about 500 attendees to be there. Register before October 17 for discounted pricing.
