Katherine Rowe is taking Shakespeare to the iPad.
Rowe, an English professor at Montgomery County’s Bryn Mawr College, developed The Tempest for the iPad last year with her company Luminary Digital Media. Now, thanks to a partnership with The Folger Shakespeare Library, she’ll be creating apps for every play in Shakespeare’s collection, the College announced
The Folger Shakespeare Library “provides the leading Shakespeare texts used in secondary schools in the country,” according to the release. The first set of apps, featuring Othello, Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet and more, will launch in November 2013.
According to the release, the apps will feature “newly commissioned audio performances produced at the Folger Theatre, expert commentaries from the world’s leading Shakespeare scholars and teachers, image galleries, video performances and interviews, audio recordings, classroom resources, and learning modules.”
Rowe is the director of the Digital Humanities program shared between Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore and Haverford Colleges.
