Former AOL chief Steve Case is getting back on the bus in search of some new startups to invest in.
His first stop on the latest Rise of the Rest tour will be Baltimore.
Case, who now serves as CEO of D.C.-based Revolution Ventures is heading out in September. He’ll arrive in Charm City amid Baltimore Innovation Week on Sept. 28.
Case began the Rise of the Rest tour to highlight tech communities cities outside The Valley and New York. In the case of Baltimore, he’s already put some money down. Last fall, Revolution led a Series A for online food delivery company OrderUp. Recently, the Canton-based company was scooped up by Groupon in a deal that Revolution is touting as a win.
In the latest Rise of the Rest Tour, Case will visit five cities including fellow Technical.ly market Philadelphia. At each stop, he’ll meet with tech and entrepreneurship communities. A public pitch competition is also planned, where a startup will get $100,000 in investment. Google for Entrepreneurs and Salesforce for Startups is also joining the tour, along with national orgs like Startup Grind and Tech Cocktail. After the pitch competition, there’s a happy hour.
