By 2016, Maryland motorists will be paying between 13 and 20 percent more for gas, with the first increase of about four more cents per gallon happening this July, reports the Washington Post.
The increase comes courtesy a state transportation bill that passed both the Maryland House of Delegates and Maryland Senate at the end of March. The state expects to raise $4.4 billion over the next six years, with the money going toward the state’s transportation fund, where it will then be doled out for highway construction and public transit projects.
