Parking Panda has taken the next step toward its apparent goal of multi-city parking market domination, releasing its iPhone app last week after several months of development.
“The overall functionality is pretty similar [to the mobile website],” says director of marketing Mark McTamney, 28. “But the resounding thing that people have noticed is it’s much quicker and much easier to use.”

The free app, available just weeks before the Baltimore Grand Prix, for which Parking Panda is reserving parking spots for attendees now—McTamney says this was entirely coincidental—was built by Catonsville-based Mindgrub Technologies.
“We showed them the mobile web experience and made some tweaks to what we wanted for that, and then they were very good about delivering different builds to us,” he says.
In an e-mail Parking Panda co-founder Nick Miller says the company will keep the exact number of app downloads private, but did say “we’ve already had a few hundred downloads of the application with very little promotion.” McTamney says there have already been “a bunch” of Grand Prix parking reservations made through the app.
While developing an app for Android phones is “pretty high” on Parking Panda’s priority list, McTamney says, no decisions yet have been made as to when that app will be released.
