After years of slowly growing its reputation, the coIN Loft coworking community in Wilmington is getting a face lift. Plus it’s dropping its first name.
Launched in 2010 by a trio of Delaware technologists, expanded into its current larger Market Street offices in December 2012 and given a leadership structure when the state-backed Start It Up Delaware effort was created in early 2013, the First State’s best known shared workspace is undergoing a complete renovation.
The 5,300 square foot, wall-less second floor space at 605 N. Market Street has been home to not quite a dozen creatives on plywood floors since then. But now after Start It Up Delaware has officially absorbed coIN as its headquarters and community, the plans have been drawn, contracts signed and work is being done, said SIUD Managing Director Mona Parikh.
As part of that change, at an event later this month, the coIN Loft will drop the ‘coIN’ part of its name and become simply ‘the Loft,’ to refer to it being the physical base of operations for the state-wide efforts from SIUD.
Parikh shared with us the following photos of the on-going renovations. The work is planned to be completed by the month’s end.
