Built in 2015 with the premise of bringing more tech to the salesroom, Journey Sales just tacked on $774,998 in venture capital.

These funds are follow-up money: at the end of 2015, Journey Sales raised a $3.35 million Series A led by local investors MissionOG, with participation from NewSpring Capital and Dublin Capital, philanthropist H. Chase Lenfest’s venture firm.

Founder and CEO Bill Butler told Technical.ly the new funding will let the Villanova, Pa.-based company build out its sales and marketing teams. The headcount at the suburban company is at 30, up from 25 two years ago.

The company’s main pitch remains the same since 2015: building “smart sales rooms” to help companies sell, sell, sell. But, as you may have imagined, things have changed a bit in tech since 2015. Butler says the firm’s technology has “evolved” to keep up with the times. But how?

“One thing we did was work with Think Company to create next-generation experiences,” the former iPipeline president said. “They helped us build a Pinterest-like experience.” As part of their offering, the company’s platform also has a Slack-like capability for sales rooms.

Clinical trial company TrialScope and Canadian insurer Financial Horizons Group have already deployed Journey Sales’ technology, the latter touting a 51 percent uptick in sales that coincides with the use of smart rooms.

Butler said a key element in Journey Sales’ growth thus far has been their connection to San Francisco-based Salesforce, a staple of ecommerce operations. It’s been “a game-changer,” Butler said.
