A company that produces antenna systems that could help spread 5G is planning to bring tech jobs to the Eastern Shore.
According to DelmarvaNow, Salisbury-based APEX RF Conditioning is planning growth in the next few years that will bring 100 jobs. The move was announced by founder David Chambers, who has experience starting two other companies.
“We have the talent in this region to supply industry-changing wireless technology,” Chambers said in a statement, per DelmarvaNow. “We look forward to growing our operations here.”
The company supplies a variety of products, including distributed antenna systems and radio access network. These include small cells, which are systems installed on light poles or buildings that can help increase connectivity. 5G — or fifth generation — wireless connectivity could be delivered to mobile devices using the systems, telecommunications leaders have said.
The company is planning to take space in Salisbury, and add jobs that will include engineers, technicians and assemblers.
It’s a sign that tech is tied to the Eastern Shore’s job growth: APEX will join a drone flight center among new operations opening in Salisbury.
