SXSW 2019 kicked off on March 8, with the tech, media, film and music industries converging on Austin, Texas. The big event will be going until March 17, but so much has already transpired over the weekend. And plenty of D.C. folks are getting involved.

Here’s a roundup of some happenings at the conference:

TwentyTables named Best Bootstrap company.

As Technical.ly DC previously reported, TwentyTables was upgraded to a finalist in the 2019 SXSW pitch competition after a company dropped out, opening up a spot for the meal marketplace startup. The competition took place on March 9 and 10 and after it was all said and done, TwentyTables took home $1,000 and the award for Best Bootstrap company, meaning the company that has done the most with the least.

“Standing up at SXSW Pitch and presenting alongside some of the most promising, most inspirational, most innovative startups in the world brings in to focus the path TwentyTables traveled to get us where we are, and the wonderful challenge in front of us,” TwentyTables founder and CEO Alexander Cohen told Technical.ly. “Nothing says resourcefulness, creativity and capital efficiency more than Best Bootstrap. We will climb, claw and kick our way to the top, and won’t stop until TwentyTables is the force it is destined to be.”

The WeDC House is back.

For three days, the spot served as a gathering point for District-centric programming.

Technically Media CEO Chris Wink moderated a discussion at the WeDC House about the future of Generation Z and the AI-driven economy they are inheriting.

Along with this discussion, the WeDC House is bringing in visitors by hosting a bunch of events each day, including the WeDC Lounge, panels and networking events.

The WeDC House is wrapping up today after its seventh year of programming, activations and events at SXSW.

And don’t forget about the pop-up esports bar.
