As a Data Science Technical Fellow, your technical leadership will play an integral role in accelerating improvements to our core search and recommendations platforms. You will innovate at the forefront of large scale machine learning and recommender systems including embeddings based retrieval, multi-target deep neural networks for ranking, fine-tuned large language models for match explanations, and much more. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, UX, and data science counterparts to deliver innovative solutions that enhance our Jobseeker-to-Job matching capabilities.

Responsibilities

Identify, architect, and drive innovative machine learning solutions across the Indeed matching platform, spanning multiple teams and organizations
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to clarify requirements and plan large scale projects
Partner with senior leadership to develop and influence our long term technical strategy
Share expertise and mentor up-and-coming data science and engineering leaders
Propose and own initiatives that improve the efficiency and productivity of the data science organization
Leverage hands-on machine learning engineering experience to dive into code and help deliver on projects as needed
Educate fellow Indeedians on data science and machine learning engineering best practices and help bring others along with you

Skills/Competencies

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
8+ years of experience in building, maintaining, and scaling large-scale machine learning solutions
Ability to translate product visions into actionable machine learning architectures and strategies
Effective in communicating complex concepts clearly and inclusively to a variety of audiences
Experience with backend development in Java, C++, or similar object-oriented languages
Skilled in coding in Python or R, with experience using machine learning tools and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, SageMaker, or LightGBM
Experience with SQL and data analysis tools and frameworks such as Pandas, Presto, AWS Athena, or Spark

United States Remote - $214,000 - 310,000 USD

Austin Metro Area - $214,000 - 310,000 USD

New York City Metro Area - $240,000 - 348,000 USD

Seattle Metro Area - $241,000 -349,000 USD

San Francisco Metro Area - $253,000 - 367,000 USD

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), a Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
