Seven years after becoming the country’s first statewide electronic health records sharing system, the Delaware Health Information Network may also be among the first adopters in updated healthcare payment processing.
Standardizing payments is part of the landmark federal Affordable Care Act legislation, and its implications were the subject of a lecture from Randy Gaboriault, the DHIN chair and CIO of Christiana Care, Delaware’s expansive healthcare network, which is among the network’s largest data providers.
Christiana executives have pushed the focus on electronic health records for years, including launching broad initiatives in 2010. Mika also pointed to Christiana being the first community hospital to submit samples to the globally collaborative cancer genome project.
