Use free public WiFi at Fulton Mall in downtown Brooklyn

Part of a broader effort to expand freely available wireless in Brooklyn, Borough President Eric Adams was on hand to celebrate the launching of free public WiFi at Albee Square in Downtown Brooklyn's Fulton Mall. To celebrate, he took a selfie.

To mark the launch of free public WiFi at Albee Square in Downtown Brooklyn’s Fulton Mall Wednesday, Borough President Eric Adams took a selfie. Perfect.

The Fulton Mall’s coverage is the first part of a larger effort by the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership to expand public wireless coverage “to the area bordered by Schermerhorn Street, Cadman Plaza West, Flatbush Avenue, and Tillary Street, along with select public spaces in the NYCHA Ingersoll and Whitman Houses,” according to a press release.

Adams said he hopes this project is one step in a much larger vision.

“I look forward to the day when we can provide such free WiFi service to all residents throughout our borough,” he said at the event.

Adams just launched an e-newsletter to help constituents keep track of his progress toward “a unified Brooklyn.” Here’s the first issue.

We asked Boerum Hill’s Eva Williams, who was also at the unveiling, if she would use the new WiFi, “Absolutely,” said the 18-year resident who visits downtown often.

Williams was one of the 30 or so people who crowded together to get in the historic photo, including Tucker Reed, the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership president.

Here are some photos of the actual selfie getting taken:
