Bethesda-based startup BrainScope is one of 16 companies to receive a piece of $16 million in the first round of the Health Challenge I awards.
Created through a partnership between General Electric and the National Football League in 2013, the awards recognize companies that are “identifying breakthrough technologies and approaches that will improve the diagnosis and prognosis of mild traumatic brain injury,” according to a press release.
BrainScope, the recipient of the first investment from the state’s $84 million InvestMaryland fund, develops a handheld medical device that assists medical personnel determine whether a person has suffered a traumatic brain injury, including a concussion.
