We like to talk about our community being a growing, developing and diverse collection of smart people who involve themselves with technology and innovation one way or another.
This week’s free events make that seem apparent.
Though, the developers’ happy hour meetup of the Build Guild has been temporarily shelved, Wednesday is looking busy and varied.
First, out in the ‘burbs, Philly.net is hosting a panel discussion on the battle between all those browsers out there and what it means for how we all use the interwebs.
Later that night in town, Philly Startup Leaders is hosting one of their always sensational pitch blitzes Wednesday night, and, yes, as part of our monthly meetup schedule, the same night, we’ll be at Dark Horse to hear from you.
Then on Saturday, the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby will bring out all the gear heads who’ve been tinkering on their strange and always artistic human-powered vehicles — you know, bicycles with an even more interesting look.
Web developers, entrepreneurs and the DIY crowd are all satiated, and that’s not all for the week.

All events listed on the event calendar are free to attend. Be sure to check our complete calendar for more.
Wednesday, May 19th: Philly.net Browser Wars. The panel will dive deep into “the ongoing browser battle,” talking about all the differentiation between the likes of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera and showing them race, their disparate developer tools and the like. They’ll also look at upcoming trends with HTML5, CSS3, GPU acceleration and more. 5:30-8:30 p.m. Malvern. RSVP. [view more events]
Philly Startup Leaders brings Startup Love Triangle. Four startup “enablers” from the community peer into the quick pitches of three early-stage startups and offer advice, criticism and, as always with PSL, a sense of ‘hey this Philly startup community actually wants to support you and help your business thrive.’ 7-9 p.m. University of the Arts, Gershman Hall Room 100. 401 South Broad Street. RSVP. [view more events]
Technically Philly May Meetup. Yup, we do co-opt this roundup for our own devices. This Wednesday at the Dark Horse Pub on 2nd Street above Lombard, we’ll be imbibing with the hopes you’ll come out and tell us what’s going on. Look for these meetups to start taking on themes in the future. 6:30 p.m. Dark Horse Pub. 421 S. 2nd Street. Society Hill. [view more events]
Saturday, May 22nd: Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby. OK, so this is a parade of crazed gear enthusiasts who trick out bicycles and other human-powered devices to be all sorts of things and roll through Kensington to be judged by the audience. Please see the winners from last year. 12 p.m. Kensington. More Information [view more events]
If you have an event that you think we should be listing, email us or fill out our submission form for best results. We promise that no submission falls in to the contact form netherworld.
