On Friday, March 13, 2020, many of us packed up a few items from our offices and prepared to work from home for a few weeks while the region got a handle on a new, dangerous virus circulating the globe.
A year later, most of us haven’t been back since.
COVID-19 has drastically changed the way Philadelphians live and work, and as we pass the one-year mark of official lockdown in the region this week, we want to hear what it’s been like for you. What do you recall about your last days in the office? How has this last year changed the way you think about how we work? What is work?
We're coming up on the anniversary of "that last day in the office." Philly technologists, what do you remember from that day? What was your thought process about it? For a @TechnicallyPHL story.

Some folks left the office not knowing it would be the last time for a while.
I remember having a big internet outage that day and having to rush out and drive to the data center in NJ… little did I know it was the last time I’d see the office for about 6 months

Others had huge, in-person meetings that seem hard to fathom now.
Our last day in the office was an all-hands meeting, in early March, with 70+ people in the same room for an entire day. There were some nervous jokes…haven't seen any of those people, face to face, since.

The University City Science Center actually held a “practice” WFH day to give employees a chance to try it out in case they needed to go remote for real.
In anticipation of a possible lockdown, everyone at @UCScienceCenter did a “practice” WFH day the week before to ensure a smooth transition. My WFH rehearsal was Friday the 13th. By Monday it was the real deal.
