Strados Labs was named a runner-up in Cisco’s 2018 Global Problem Solver Challenge.
The startup, makers of a wearable device that helps track respiratory performance in patients with asthma, COPD and other lung diseases, won a $10,000 prize in the global contest, which backs companies working on “world-changing solutions” to today’s problems.
“We’re honored to be part of the Global Problem Solver community,” said CEO Nick Delmonico in a LinkedIn post. “This award will help us to advance our technology-enabled solution towards the market.”
This year, almost 300 teams competed for a total of $300,000 in prizes. The grand prize of $100,000 went to India-based CareNX, makers of a portable, IoT-based fetal heart monitoring solution.
“Cisco is proud to continue recognizing young entrepreneurs who are developing innovative, technology-based solutions and services that have the ability to change the world,” said Cisco Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Tae Yoo.
The company, run by Delmonico and founded by Thomas Jefferson University Hospital fellow Yu Kan Au, is also a graduate of the NextFab RAPID accelerator, the Village Capital Pathways program and has received funding locally from Ben Franklin Technology Partners.
