D.C.-based The Cipher Online has raised $1.3 million, the Washington Business Journal reported Friday. The company, founded by former CNN intelligence correspondent Suzanne Kelly, will cover national security issues for a business audience.

Kelly said the news product would be focused on highlighting both international risks and opportunities for the national business community — industries such as energy, hospitality and finance, for example. By “opportunities,” she means shedding light on local communities with commercial potential; risks refer to trouble spots abroad that could pose issues for domestic businesses.
