The Columbia TechBreakfast, taking place August 16, is now open for registration.
As we reported last week, Bizelo co-founder and TechBreakfast organizer Ron Schmelzer had been seeking to expand the originally Baltimore-based TechBreakfast to other cities, including Columbia and Washington, D.C. The Columbia breakfast will be held in the Charles Ecker Business Training Center at Howard Community College.
Presenters lined up so far include Cut2It, a software platform for splicing out relevant or important moments from longer video clips, Handteq, which designs mobile apps for events, property managers and associations, and Social Growth, developers of monetization platform Social Ingot, which allows game developers to incorporate advertisements into their games in order to create revenue.
In addition, the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) is now a gold-level sponsor of both the Baltimore and Columbia TechBreakfasts. TEDCO was formally signed up as a sponsor earlier this week, says Schmelzer, and will receive “sponsorship visibility” at the event and on the Meetup site, a 30-second presentation at the beginning of each event, the chance to send out offers via to TechBreakfast attendees via e-mail, and the ability to distribute literature to attendees at each TechBreakfast.
“It’s a steal at $500 a month with a 12-month commitment,” Schmelzer says.
Sponsors for the Columbia TechBreakfast also include the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship, Motifworks, Evergreen Advisors, and DLA Piper.

Companies: Howard Community College / TechBreakfast / TEDCO
