An incubator for “socially conscious” startups is coming to Howard County.
Days after announcing a new accelerator partnership with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab, Howard County executive Ken Ulman told the Baltimore Business Journal that the Conscious Venture Lab will be housed inside the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship, and could begin enrolling startups as early as the fall.
The BBJ reports:

The Conscious Venture Lab is a partnership between Howard County and New York-based The Porter Group LLC. … Through the agreement with Howard County, the Porter Group will launch a venture fund to invest up to $25,000 in each company brought in to the incubator. Howard County has budgeted a total of $800,000 over two years for infrastructure, staff and other support services for the program.
