When its lease at the Can Company expires in October, the Emerging Technology Center is moving its Canton office to the King Cork and Seal Building at 101 North Haven Street, just south of Pulaski Highway and one mile to the northeast of Patterson Park, as Technically Baltimore reported.
You may remember that last summer there were already questions about where the ETC would go with its lease up.
As ETC president Deb Tillett told Technically Baltimore, the move is a “chance to start ‘fresh’ to really define what the space would be.” The new ETC office will be on the third and top floor of King Cork and Seal, taking 20,000 square feet of office space divided between two wings of the L-shaped building.
Floor plans for the new space are still coming together, but on a Tuesday morning tour of the future location, Tillett said the ETC’s new site would include bathrooms with shower facilities, at least three conference rooms and “hundreds” of spaces of private parking for tenants.
View the photos below.
In total the building is 70,000 square feet, and half of the second floor is already rented out. ETC graduate NV3 Technologies, which manufactures cell phone charging kiosks, is moving into the first floor of the building.
The Haven Street building is also located in an Enterprise Zone, Tillett said, making businesses that move there eligible for tax credits. (The Baltimore Development Corporation oversees both the ETC and the city’s Enterprise Zones.)
Not moving is the ETC’s other location at Johns Hopkins University – Eastern Campus on 33rd Street.

The outside, when finished, will feature a wrought-iron fence stretching around the rear of the building, enclosing the parking lot. The area sectioned off in the photo below will be the site of a cobblestone patio.
