Every week we ship an email newsletter featuring the region’s most exciting career opportunities. We’ve lovingly called it This Week in Jobs (aka TWIJ). Below is this week’s edition; it’s meant to live in your inbox. Sign up for the newsletter here.
Happy Random Acts of Kindness Day!
The idea of doing small, anonymous good deeds became a movement in the 1980s, culminating in the establishment of this holiday in 1995. February, often bleak and soggy, was chosen as a time of year people might need a random pick-me-up the most.
In the era of YouTube and social media, random acts of kindness can sometimes feel like they’re done for spectator sport rather than anonymously with no expectation of personal return. Still, the day has persisted, evolving into a worldwide campaign aimed at promoting empathy and combating social isolation.
In the working world, a random act of kindness can look like mentoring someone with less experience, making an introduction out of the blue or sharing an acquaintance’s job-seeking post on LinkedIn with your network.
Consider this week’s listings (now including Louisiana!) not only as opportunities for yourself, but also as something you can pass along.
