Two more companies are receiving cuts of the $84 million InvestMaryland fund: Bambeco, which already received $400,000 in November, took an additional $200,000 in funding and Plasmonix received $100,000.

Plasmonix, a bioanalysis technology company based in Baltimore County, specializes in metal-enhanced fluorescence, “which is used in cell detection for medical research and clinical diagnostics. The technology has potential applications across the life science, as well as in cosmetics, apparel, paints and lighting,” according to MDBizNews.
In addition, the application period for the state-sponsored InvestMaryland Challenge closed Thursday. (Bless you, InvestMaryland, for requiring executive summaries and, for startup companies that make it to the second round, full business plans.) Come April, three companies will receive $100,000 each in investment funding pulled from the larger InvestMaryland fund.
