N3rd Street

N3rd Street is a corridor of North 3rd Street extending from Old City to Northern Liberties in Philadelphia that was first identified in early 2012 for being home to a number of creative, web and technology businesses. It is a kind of colloquial portmanteau of the word “nerd” and 3rd Street. In April 2014, ahead of Philly Tech Week, street signs were placed on North 3rd Street signifying this corridor. The name started among members of the Devnuts coworking space in Northern Liberties and began to be used among various members of the tech and creative community near there and Old City.
