A bag and accessory company started by a pair of Baltimore natives is the latest outfit to move into City Garage.
Treason Toting Co. is using a 1,680-square-foot space for prototyping and manufacturing at the Port Covington space for startups. The company is also opening a retail store on Thames Street in Fells Point.
Founders Jason Bass and Aaron Jones started the company in 2013, and have released products including a weekender duffle bag, wallets and keychains. They’re planning more products marketed toward the “creative class.”
“Our products appeal to the office worker that carries his tools of trade in his bag while trekking from work to play, but is always prepared for the unexpected opportunity,” Bass said in an on-brand statement.
Treason Toting Co. also received an investment of an undisclosed amount from Sagamore Ventures, the Kevin Plank-backed firm that runs City Garage. Sagamore wants to provide resources so Treason can manufacture its products in Baltimore, and raise its profile. The retail location is on the same block where Plank’s company is redeveloping the Recreation Pier into a hotel.
Sagamore Ventures managing partner Demian Costa said the company has “created an amazing product that exemplifies the growing entrepreneurial ecosystem here in Baltimore city.”
The company joins a maker education startup, a skateboard company and Social Leagues at City Garage, among others.
