Sussex Technical School District, which includes Sussex Technical High School and Adult Education Division programs, recently decided on a new slogan — “Preparing Students For Their Future” — to accompany its raven mascot.
In accordance with Sussex Tech’s mission as a vo-tech high school, students were encouraged to submit their own designs for a new logo for the district.
So now-recent graduate Joseph Wilder of Seaford used the skills he’d learned in the school’s digital publishing and design program to put the slogan and mascot together — and his design was unanimously selected by a review panel as the district’s new logo.
His design will be used on everything from offices to sports teams:

“He didn’t only submit one logo – he submitted multiple logos, and he made a graphic standards manual showing how the logos will be used,” said Sussex Tech digital publishing and design program teacher Kelli Gehrke. “He always puts 100% effort into his work, and I know he will be doing great things.”
Wilder, who will attend Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia in the fall, was also recognized by the Board of Education in June, was chosen as Sussex Tech’s outstanding senior in his technical area and recently won a silver medal in advertising design at the SkillsUSA national championships.
With the logo, which was made public on July 10, Wilder will leave a long-term mark on his alma mater.
“To drive by the school now and see this logo will be very amazing,” he said.
