Think you have what it takes to be in D.C.’s second Startup Leadership Program cohort?
The Boston-founded nonprofit is now accepting applications through July 31. If you end up as one of the 15-25 fellows accepted, you’ll be joining more than 2,200 global alumni who have gone through the six-month program focused on founders and helping them grow, rather than their respective startups. Whether it’s meeting up every month with mentors and VCs or having access to that network, you’ll have a lot to work with.
This year’s program runs from September 2016 to March 2017.

Three members of D.C.’s first Startup Leadership Program cohort are now heading up the D.C. program — Laura Fredericks, Gary Officer and Mica Longanecker. It’s all on a volunteer basis, too, as Startup Leadership Program doesn’t take any equity.
“Everyone volunteers their time because they benefited from the program and want to help others do the same,” Longanecker said via email. Their roles will consist of getting the program up and running, evaluating applications and recruiting mentors and advisors to work with the cohort.
But that doesn’t mean they’ll be doing everything for the new cohort — each participant is responsible for however much they’re willing to learn.
“The first cohort featured many panels and this time we want to add a number of roundtables with mentors, so fellows can dive into the challenges they face,” Officer said in an email. “We are going to focus on core competencies such as product development and marketing more this time around as well.”
Want to learn more about the program before diving in? Startup Leadership Program will be hosting a panel discussion and Q&A with professionals from the startup, consulting and VC worlds on July 19 at WeWork Dupont.
