Phorum tech conference is at the Fillmore this year

The annual event is taking over Fishtown's new concert venue on April 14.

Tech startups are a lot like rock bands: both make something awesome, both take that awesome thing on the road and both need a loyal base to sustain them.
Maybe that’s a bit of a stretch.
Regardless, annual spring technology conference Phorum is happening at the Fillmore Philly this year. It makes sense for the event, which draws in folks from across the region who need a place to park their cars.
Last year’s event at Penn Museum triggered some serious congestion in West Philly (it was a fiasco, really). The venue choice this year should make returning attendees breathe a sigh of relief.
Phorum’s theme this year is “systems of insight” and will feature a handful of presentations on predictive analytics and adopting data-driven approaches within your enterprise. The April 14 event will feature a demo pit — this year, with a twist.
Demo pit participants will appear on stage in one of two sessions and pitch their startups to the audience and a panel of judges led by Nate Lentz, managing partner at early stage investment fund Osage Venture Partners.
Interested startups should apply for the demo pit by March 1.

Though two’s not quite a trend, we’ll note that Technical.ly Philly is also hosting a tech confab at the Fillmore. Our NET/WORK career fair will be there Feb. 23.
Wait, here’s three: Curalate had its holiday party there. The Fillmore Philly is now the hot venue of choice for local tech-related events.
