The Sciences track is the newest on our block but no less active than the others. We’ve dedicated some serious coverage to the petri dish that is Philadelphia’s sciences sector. Take a look if you missed it.

Philly Tech Week 2017 presented by Comcast is offering the opportunity at an afternoon of engagement offline. Technical.ly’s The Future of Health Sciences conference will highlight Philly’s healthcare technology path by sharing what we’ve already tackled and our game plan for the next steps!

This event is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 1, 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Public Health Management Corp., Centre Square East, 1500 Market Street in the lower mezzanine. Tickets are $10.

RSVP

We’ve invited some of the folks we’ve profiled on Technical.ly for an in-depth panel conversation to tackle the turmoils of tomorrow. They’ll share what current health technologies they’re working on and what innovative ventures are being pursued to fill in the blanks. It’ll be moderated by Technically Philly Lead Reporter Roberto Torres.

Here are our awesome panelists:

  • Cheryl Bettigole — Director of Get Healthy Philly the Division of Chronic Disease Prevention of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health
  • David Hindin — Doctor, technologist and founder at Invented Magazine

Immediately following the panel, we’ll get to see exactly how Philadelphia’s health IT community is making their innovative strides. We’ll roll through 7-minute lightning demos so be sure to take note of your questions. You’ll have your opportunity to see the demos up close and meet the presenters during the demo happy hour that closes the day.

Here are the confirmed demos:

Exo-Skin Glove presented by professors Genevieve Dion and Andrew Cohen and Drexel biomedical engineering student Mike Koerner.

  • An assistive device for strength augmentation and amplification.

Lilypad presented by professors Gabriela Marcu and James Connell

  • A real-time decision support system for behavioral health providers.

ImmERge Labs presented Alfredo Almodovar

  • A virtual reality sudden cardiac arrest training system to improve bystander response during emergencies. It is an immersive, multisensory (audio, visual, tactile) VR system.

Make your Monday afternoon one for discovery. Philadelphia holds the potential to lead the country in health tech innovation and we want to show you how, so get tickets ($10) here.
