The startup formerly known as Peach is now Fixt. And the app known as DropBot is now Fixt.co.
The company changed the names to more clearly communicate what the company’s software does, said cofounder and CEO Luke Cooper. The startup’s team collectively decided on the name after narrowing it down to three finalists.
“If you’re going to wear a T-shirt with a new name on it, you have to all like the name,” Cooper said.
The app has technology that automatically detects when a person drops a cellphone or iPad, then puts customers in touch with reps who can get the insurance claims and repair process started. The company’s goal is to disrupt the insurance market.
With the app designed to be used by large companies that issue devices to employees, Cooper said the company has been taking on new customers. The company previously brought on Lyft drivers and 15,000 former customers of Bawte. Cooper declined to provide the current total number of users, but says each company that signs on with the app “increases our total by tens of thousands of new users.”
