Real Food Works COO Mike Krupit is leaving the Conshohocken-based healthy meal subscription service to free up resources so the startup can scale faster.
Food startups scale slower than tech startups, said Krupit at yesterday’s Bootstrappers Breakfast, the monthly event Krupit organizes.
“We got too top heavy,” he said, referring to the number of executives at Real Food Works. “Our burn rate was too high.” So, Krupit said, he’s pulling back.
He’ll remain a shareholder and an advisor and said that it’s possible he might return to the company, his seventh startup, in the future. Krupit joined Real Food Works, led by his former Infonautics colleague Lucinda Duncalfe, a few months after it was launched.
As for his plans?
“Right now, I’m just going to enjoy Philly Tech Week,” Krupit said.
