Sick of spotty smartphone streaming? Connectify’s latest is here for you

The newest version of the Center City-made app went live on Thursday for iOS and Android. What's new? No login and a souped-up connection mode.

The latest version of Speedify, Connectify’s bet on beefing up your mobile connection, went live this Thursday with a significant change from its previous iteration: you can now fully merge WiFi and mobile connections to stream data redundantly.
When set in”Redundant Mode,” your latest Netflix fave gets downloaded by both connections simultaneously. The Center City-based company said this mode helps keep data-heavy events like VoIP calls or video streaming consistent.

“Everyone has had a bad experience with Wi-Fi or mobile data, most of us probably encounter poor connectivity issues every day,” Connectify CEO Alex Gizis said via email. “We created Speedify to save people from those frustrating scenarios when their Spotify streaming is interrupted as they step outside their house or go to the gym, or an important business call is dropped because their mobile connectivity has no backup. ”
The company also scrubbed the need for a login and password combo: users can now access the speed booster after a one-step activation.
For the 4.0 version of the app — which first launched last year — Speedify got a makeover by Philly-based designer and developer Loren Brichter.
But does the thing actually work? You be the judge.
