ChargeItSpot, the Center City startup that sells phone charging stations, just raised $1 million to close out a $3.2 million round, CEO Doug Baldasare said. Most of the investors are existing ones, like Robin Hood Ventures and an Oracle executive, he said.
The company will use the money to expand its team and develop new features for its charging stations, like loyalty program compatibility. ChargeItSpot currently employs 15.
The company also made two leadership hires:
- Sheri Tate as senior VP of product strategy. (Tate previously held leadership positions at Silicon Valley-based DVDPlay, which developed technology that Baldasare described as what eventually became the tech that powered RedBox kiosks. DVDPlay and RedBox had a complicated relationship.)
- Jeff Bergeland as director of client success. (ChargeItSpot hired Bergeland away from Urban Outfitters, where Bergeland was ChargeItSpot’s main point of contact as the companies did business.)
ChargeItSpot is available in locations of Urban Outfitters, Five Below, department store Belk and most recently, Bergdorf Goodman.
