BuLogics: Malvern smart home firm moves to East Falls; NW Philly tech scene grows

BuLogics also wants to get more involved with the local tech scene and the relocation was part of that, CTO and cofounder Ryan Buchert has said to Technically Philly.

BuLogics, the 10-year-old smart home firm, has left its Malvern headquarters for East Falls to be closer to tech talent, according to a release. The announcement is coupled with BuLogic’s launch of its new energy management system.

The 11-person company, which hired Hive76 cofounder Far McKon in March, plans to grow to 15 in the near future, so being close to future talent is important. But the move was also to accomodate its current talent: some of BuLogics employees were commuting two hours each way to get to the Malvern office.

“That waste of time and talent is just unacceptable, especially for an energy management company,” said CEO Felicite Moorman in the release.

BuLogics also wants to get more involved with the local tech scene and the relocation was part of that, CTO and cofounder Ryan Buchert has said to Technically Philly.

The company’s new digs are a 3,000 square feet space located in East Falls’ Mason Building. The team chose East Falls because it gives BuLogics an “opportunity to participate in a rapidly growing […] community,” Moorman said, adding that the East Falls Development has been extremely welcoming. For its bike commuters, the Kelly Drive bike trail doesn’t hurt, either, Moorman said.

Northwest Philly now hosts a few startups: DailyWorth’s local office is inside Chestnut Hill green tech investment firm Blue Hill Partners, web dev firm Intuitive is in Manayunk after three years in Bala Cynwyd and digital agency Delphic Digital is also in Manayunk. There’s also The Transfer Station, the proposed coworking, education and storefront space that hopes to open in Manayunk.
