Bandura Cyber is integrating its Threat Intelligence Gateway technology with a network security product from Silicon Valley–based Gigamon that’s designed to block threats before they reach firewalls.
Bandura Cyber, which has 25 employees between offices in Columbia and St. Louis, Mo., developed its product in part with the U.S. Department of Defense to make use of threat intelligence. It can pick up on millions of different threat indicators, and protect against those potential attacks.
According to Bandura chief strategy officer Todd Weller, Gigamon acts as a “central hub” that delivers data to security tools that can help protect a network. “Using the hub reduces the burden of having multiple tools plugging directly into your network,” he said.
The product is designed to take the pressure off of firewalls.
“Firewalls were not designed to take on the tens of millions of internet threats in play today. At most they can handle a few hundred thousand threat indicators at a time. Our integration with Bandura is purpose-built to operationalize the vast amount of threat intelligence available and ease a traditionally overwhelmed form of security,” Adrian Liu, Director of Alliances and Business Development at Gigamon, said in a statement.
By joining together, Bandura can get access to all network traffic, including from data center and cloud environments. Gigamon’s aggregation can also help Bandura’s product operate more efficiently.
“Our integration was driven by customer demand,” Weller said. “Customers that use Gigamon require network security vendors to integrate with Gigamon to gain access to their network traffic.”
Gigamon works with larger enterprises, including tech companies, healthcare providers, banks and government agencies. The integration can help Bandura reach those customers, Weller said. That builds on initial customers in small and medium–sized businesses.
There were no financial terms associated with the integration. The companies expect to market the product together in the near future.
After bringing on Chris Fedde as CEO earlier this year, Bandura Cyber posted a pair of rounds totaling $7.5 million in funding.
