Grant alert: We’re commissioning art for Baltimore Innovation Week

The intersection of arts and technology needs celebration. (And, btw, it’s big and getting bigger in Baltimore.)

To help, we at Technical.ly are pleased to announce a unique opportunity for Baltimore city artists to prepare a project proposal to be produced for and exhibited during Baltimore Innovation Week, occurring Sept. 23 to Oct. 1, 2016.
This is what we’re looking for:
Technical.ly is seeking a proposal for content that can be projected inside the MICA Brown Center or other interactive art installations that would serve as a creative attraction at the Baltimore Innovation Awards ceremony on the evening of Oct. 1.
The selected two or three artists will receive a budget (paid in full and in advance) of $500 to produce the work, and will able to keep their work. All technical production needs to be provided and managed by the winners and be coordinated with the Technical.ly events team in accordance with our timeline outlined below.
Here’s how to submit a proposal:
This application is open to Baltimore-based artists working in new media. Artists should have demonstrable projection or creative art installation experience and be able to submit samples of their past work. Applicants can submit an application online. The application deadline is Sept. 2, 2016.

Applications should include:
A statement of interest (maximum 200 words), and info on thematic content, narrative elements and specific media components for the project (maximum 300 words) in any of the following file formats: PDF, .doc, .docx or JPEG. Also submit a short bio or CV, up to five examples of previous works, a headshot and a corresponding works list that identifies each file type by applicant name.
Here’s the timeline:

• Aug. 17: Application opens
• Sept. 2: Application closes at 11:50 p.m.
• Sept. 3: Technical.ly internal review, making final selections
• Sept. 4: Artists notified and contract finalized
• Sept. 9, Sept. 16, Sept. 20: Project development, organized conversation between Technical.ly and Baltimore artists
• Oct. 1: Install at Baltimore Innovation Awards at MICA Brown during the day, break down immediately after the event

The selected artist contract will be executed as quickly to the notification date as possible to ensure that as much time as feasible can be devoted to producing and delivering this project.
