1776 steps into Philly with a new coworking partner

Our sister site Technical.ly Philly has more on the new Benjamin's Desk Challenge Center.

Fifteenth Street-based incubator and seed fund 1776 continues to grow and expand both its physical presence (with new campuses like those in Brooklyn or Dubai) and its virtual reach (through the platform Union).

Somewhere in this melange sits a new partnership, one between 1776 and Philly-based coworking and real estate company Benjamin’s Desk. The Benjamin’s Desk Challenge Center powered by 1776 will occupy the eighth floor of 1701 Walnut St., and was described to sister site Technical.ly Philly as a project that will bring “startups, institutions and government together to ‘solve complex challenges.'” (Full disclosure: Technically Media is a tenant of a Benjamin’s Desk location in Philadelphia.)

For Benjamin’s Desk and Philly the joint venture will “connect companies in the local ecosystem to a broader global network to inject new energy into Philadelphia’s rise as an innovation hub.” But what will it do for 1776? It’s hard to say, given that financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. But, if successful, such a project will certainly serve to boost 1776’s cache as a connector.
