Google Developer Group (GDG) and Women Techmakers (WTM) Baltimore invite you to be a part of the fourth DevFest MD on October 27 at Betamore’s City Garage location. DevFest MD is the group’s largest event of the year where they bring together a diverse range of attendees from curiosity seekers to technophiles for a full day tech conference. This year’s event consists of two tracks:
- Talks, consisting of speakers discussing some of the latest technologies
- Codelabs, where attendees will get a chance to learn new skills by getting guided hands-on experience writing apps for mobile, Internet of things, and more.
Among the opportunities to network with like minded techies, learn new skills, or chat about making a career move all attendees will also receive breakfast, lunch, and free swag. Attendees also have a chance to win one of multiple prizes, including a Google Daydream VR headset, personal mini-refrigerators and more.
At your local DevFest, attendees can expect high quality speakers from the Baltimore metro area tech community to cover a wide range of topics. Sarah Jennings, Creative Director of Brand and Ad Innovation at Oath, will be the keynote speaker where she’ll be discussing blockchain, which is the technology behind Bitcoin, and how it will impact your life. She will be followed up by Google developer expert Danny Blue, Baltimore tech community leader Sal Hernandez, and other local tech experts excited to share their knowledge with the community.
If getting your hands dirty is more your style, attendees can jump into any of the four codelabs. GDG Baltimore has partnered with tech community leaders Chris Strom and Johnny Boursiquot to run Flutter (cross-platform mobile apps) and Golang codelabs. Lastly, Baltimore-based Android engineers Alex Fu and GDG Baltimore’s own Cody Henthorne, will be leading codelabs on Kotlin and Android (Internet of) Things respectively. If you’ve ever wanted to learn a new programming language, or write a mobile app, DevFestMD is a great place to start.
GDG Baltimore’s DevFestMD is part of Google’s DevFest season. It is a coordinated effort around the world, aimed at hosting community-run developer events focused on community building and learning about new technologies. While no two events will be exactly alike, each event will, at its core, be powered by a shared belief that when developers and tech enthusiasts come together to exchange ideas, amazing things can happen.
You can join the party by reserving your ticket for just $15. The first 15 attendees to use the code “technically” can get $5 off.
