In June 2021, Racial Equity in Tech Month, Technical.ly focused extra reporting on the work being done to increase access and representation for people who have been historically left out of local tech economies. We particularly looked back on our June 2020 coverage and asked what progress has been made on the many funding or diversity pledges we heard from local tech companies following George Floyd's murder, as well as what pathways are being created for Black technologists.
Some big questions we sought to answer: How did 2020's Black Lives Matter protests shape racial equity in tech? How can companies bring accountability for the pledges they made? How can the opportunities of tech become more accessible for people of all races? What organizations and people are doing the most impactful racial equity work?
