The Washington Justice, D.C.’s professional Overwatch League esports team, is partnering with PenFed Credit Union for its 2020 season.

The McLean, Virginia-based national federal credit union will be the presenting partner for the team’s inaugural homestand weekend, this Feb. 22 and 23. Each day, there will be three matches and certain PenFed cardholders will get access to a VIP experience which includes a meet-and-greet, VIP lounge, special merchandise and more.

Matches this upcoming weekend will be hosted at The Anthem, a music venue and auditorium in the District Wharf area.

“We have already built a large, enthusiastic fan base who can’t wait to take part in this memorable, historic Inaugural Homestand Weekend where we will begin to establish our Greater Washington region as one of the esports capitals in the world,” said the team’s owner, Mark Ein, in a statement. “Having the support of PenFed, a pillar of the DC community and one of the strongest financial institutions in the US, reinforces everything our local team stands for.”

This partnership announcement comes after the Washington Justice celebrated its first win of the season against the Houston Outlaws on Feb. 15.

This upcoming weekend, the Washington Justice will face off in the feature matches of each day at 7 p.m, first taking on the Paris Eternal on Saturday, Feb. 22, and the London Spitfire, on Sunday, Feb. 23. The London Spitfire team is the 2018 Overwatch League champion.

Attendees will be able to indulge in pre- and post-game entertainment, aerialists, a performance by DJ Kool, curated drinks and food and a “festival-like atmosphere” open for all ages, per a press release. The first 500 people in the door this weekend will receive an exclusive T-shirt, the team shared on its Twitter account.

“PenFed is excited to help make The Washington Justice inaugural homestand a landmark event within a city known for its landmarks,” said James Schenck, president and CEO of PenFed Credit Union.

As part of the partnership, PenFed Credit Union will work with the Overwatch League to host interactive experiences inside and outside of the arenas for attendees at the five homestand weekends in D.C.
