Washington Justice and the Overwatch League will host five weekends of games in the District in 2020 — a first for the local esports team.
This opportunity comes as part of the league’s new home-and-away game schedule format, through which teams will host a series of live matches in their cities for multiple teams to come and compete. This will allow local fans to gain IRL exposure to the growing esports industry in the region.
The Washington Justice’s homestand weekends will take place at The Anthem, a music venue and auditorium at 901 Wharf St. SW, and the Entertainment and Sports Arena located at 1100 Oak St. SE, which is where the Washington Mystics also play. Tickets for each event start at $70.

“In partnership with Events DC, we are thrilled to bring the Justice home in 2020 for five memorable weekends and enable everyone to check out the global phenomenon of major esports in person for the first time,” said the team’s owner, Mark Ein, in a statement. “Our best-in-class venues like the Entertainment and Sports Arena and The Anthem allow us to produce fully immersive and engaging experiences that our fans, in the arenas or tuning in from around the world, will never forget.”
The homestead weekends are as follows:
- Feb. 22 to 23, 2020 at The Anthem
- March 7 to 8, 2020 at The Anthem
- April 4 to 5, 2020 at The Anthem
- May 30 to 31, 2020 at Entertainment and Sports Arena
- June 20 to 21, 2020 at Entertainment and Sports Arena
Due to the high volume of esports fans in D.C., the Washington Justice is hosting the most homestand weekends compared to other teams. Attendees will be able to witness pre- and post-game entertainment, indulge in curated drinks and food and enjoy a “festival-like atmosphere” open for all ages, per a press release. The first homestand weekend, scheduled for February, will mark the Washington Justice’s inaugural homecoming match in the District after playing its first season from California.
