Programming note: We’re away on retreat

We're heading downashore and will be back Monday.

Hello, dear reader. The 20-person staff of Technically Media is heading out for its annual retreat. We’re loading the vans as we speak. Destination: Surf City, N.J.

It continues an annual summertime tradition for the publishing company behind Technical.ly and Generocity.org. The retreat gives us time to bond with members of our distributed team, evaluate the state of the company and chart strategic initiatives — all while enjoying outdoor activities and a cold beverage or two.

We will not be publishing stories Thursday and Friday, to make sure that editorial staffers can fully participate. We’ll be back to your regularly scheduled programming on Monday, June 12.

When this doe-eyed editor first came into the Technical.ly fold, the team retreat was held in the Poconos. In 2015 it was out in New Hope, Pa. Last year we explored the wilds of greater Carlisle, Pa.

This year is a return of sorts to the Jersey Shore. Dedicated (very dedicated) readers of Technical.ly Philly may recall when a much smaller team (four, to be exact) gathered at the very first company retreat in North Wildwood, N.J., in 2012.

Times have changed, and gee, we seem to have grown.

Follow us on Snapchat (username: technicallym) for updates from the beach. We even got a custom geofilter this year.

34% to our goal! $25,000

Before you go...

To keep our site paywall-free, we’re launching a campaign to raise $25,000 by the end of the year. We believe information about entrepreneurs and tech should be accessible to everyone and your support helps make that happen, because journalism costs money.

Can we count on you? Your contribution to the Technical.ly Journalism Fund is tax-deductible.
